Hull Law Society Competitions
NOTE: the internal timetable for all the competitions: Mooting, Client Interviewing and Negotiation; is available on the Competitions Timetable Page

The Law Society holds a number of competitions to test a variety of essential legal skills. These competitions are Mooting, Client Interviewing and Negotiation.

  • Mooting is the art of argument, the fundamental skill for any Barrister. The ability to put forward your argument in a cogent and clear manner to rattle your opposition into submission with your legal knowledge and adversarial prowess.
  • Client Interviewing is a role playing scenario which mimics a typical day in the life of a Solicitor. You will need to interview a client, to extract the facts, advise the client and provide an overall professional service.
  • Negotiation is another role playing based competition. There are 2 teams who represent 2 opposing client and a consensus must be reached. The ability to balance the needs of your client with that of the opposition is the aim of the game.
